Abstract

|
F₂ population of a Cucurbita interspecific hybrid (C. pepo × C. moschata) was analyzed to test the use of random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers in constructing molecular genetic map. Out of 70 arbitrary 10-mer primers screened, 15 primers showed polymorphisms in parental DNAs and these primers were used to identify the polymorphisms in 40 F₂ individuals. Segregating 47 RAPD markers were analyzed by Mapmaker program and five linkage groups were constructed to contain 28 RAPD marker loci.
